OMED is directed by an eleven-member Board of Directors, consisted of equal representation of employees and employers parties plus the President of the OMED and a representative of the Ministry of Labour without voting rights.
Thus, the BoD’s constitution is as follows:
Five 5 representatives with their alternates appointed by the General Confederation of Greek Workers (GSEE, gr; ΓΣΕΕ), and other five 5 members with their alternates, one of every each third-level employers’ organisations across Greece as follows; the Hellenic Federation of Enterprises (SEV, gr; ΣΕΒ), the Hellenic Confederation of Professionals, Craftsmen, and Merchants of Greece (GSEVEE, gr; ΓΣΕΒΕΕ), the Hellenic Confederation of Commerce and Entrepreneurship (ESEE, gr; ΕΣΕΕ), Greek Tourism Confederation (SETE, gr; ΣΕΤΕ), and Federation of Industries of Greece (SBE) (gr; ΣΒΕ).
The BoD functions on the basis of the L. 1876/1990, as well as the regulations drafted by the BoD itself, with the obligation the most significant of the issues, like the selection of Mediators & Arbitrators, to be decided inanimately.
The abovementioned representatives appointed by the social partners elect a person of acknowledged status, with experience in labour relations issues as a Chairman of the Board. The chairman also acts, among other duties, as the legal representative of the Organisation.
The BoD has a five 5 year period of servicing, with the right to be renewed.
The ongoing BoD assembly formed after Government Gazette, (gr; ΦΕΚ), 110/17.02.2020 and having elected as Chairman of the Organisation for Mediation and Arbitration Prof. Costas Papadimitriou, professor of labour law in the Law School of Athens UoA, and former member of the Bodies of Mediators and Arbitrator of the OMED.
