Makrygianni, Afroditi-Evangelia

Dr. Economist, she is a graduate of the Department of Economics of Athens University of Economics and Business (1987), holds postgraduate degrees in Regional Development from Panteion University of Social and Political Sciences (1989) and in Agricultural Economics from the Institut Agronomique Mediterraneen of France (1995), and a Ph.D. from Panteion University of Social and Political Science in Labor Economics ("Tertiary Phenomena in the Greek Economy", 1999).

She has worked for five years at the National Bank of Greece and has been a researcher at the Institute of Urban Environment and Human Resources of Panteion University. She has also been a private sector investment advisor and rapporteur on regional policy and investment issues at the Institute of Continuing Education of the National Center for Public Administration. From 2000 to 2004 she worked at the Management Organisation Unit of Development Programmes (M.O.D. SA), as a member of the Special Coordination Service of the Ministry of Labor, responsible for planning the actions of the European Social Fund in the Regional Operational Programs, while she has also been a member of the Scientific Committee for the drafting of the National Action Plan for Employment of the Hellenic Ministry of Labor. At the same time, she has been employed as an external collaborator / consultant of the National Certification Center for Continuing Vocational Training (EKEPIS). From 2014 to 2017, she served as Rapporteur at the Ports Regulatory Authority, where she mainly handled issues related to port fees and port waste. Since 2004, she has been working as a Scientific Associate and, since 2010, as a Scientific Advisor of the Economic and Social Committee of Greece.

She is a representative in the International Network of Economic and Social Committees of the Mediterranean countries in the framework of Euro-Mediterranean Cooperation and participates in European working groups focusing on the environment, migration and European policies for employment and social inclusion. Furthermore, as an independent researcher, she undertakes studies on issues of development, labor market and spatial planning. Since 2010 she has also been a Mediator in the Mediation and Arbitration Organization (OMED) providing mediation services between employers and employees on issues related to their remuneration and working conditions. She has attended numerous seminars and conferences and has important announcements in conferences, scientific publications and book participations in relation to employment and labor market issues. At the same time, she has participated in a large number of studies on regional development, the labor market, spatial planning and social cohesion.

She is fluent in English and French.
